Of all the retro-modern muscle cars, it’s easy to make the case that none has stayed as true to its roots as the Dodge Challenger. Not only does it look remarkably similar to the Challengers that hunted lesser pony-car prey in the 1970s, it’s also available with a pair of HEMI V-8 engines, long considered an essential ingredient among the Mopar faithful wishing to quickly convert rear-tire rubber into billowing clouds of smoke.

If we had to pick the quintessential full-size American sedan, we’d likely look no further than the 2013 Dodge Charger. Like the sedans that roamed the American landscape for decades, it remains true to the front-engine, rear-drive layout that defined Detroit’s products for most of the 20th century (though the current Charger can be had in all-wheel drive, too).

A custom independent rear suspension with inboard disc brakes puts the 775 HP to the ground through serious 22x12 rear and 20x9 front 1-off Budnik wheels wrapped in Pirelli rubber. The custom interior features French seemed black leather with grey alcantara inserts. The custom center console houses the drilled shifter and engine start button as well as the controls for the power windows.

Charger R/T: With its legendary 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine, performance-tuned suspension with larger performance disc brakes and standard Uconnect Touch 8.4, the Dodge Charger R/T is designed for the customer who demands V-8 power, rail-like handling and state-of-the-art technology.

The 2012 Dodge Charger Blacktop Package features the aluminum 3.6-liter Pentastar engine delivering 292 horsepower through the all-new segment-exclusive eight-speed automatic transmission. For even more spirited driving with performance feel, the driver can utilize all-new die-cast steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters to manually select the desired gear.

The 2011 Dodge Avenger has roughly the same interior space found in the 2011 Hyundai Sonata, or the latest Ford Fusion and Subaru Legacy, some of The Car Connection’s most highly rated four-doors. Head room and leg room are equal to or better than most, though the Avenger’s trunk is on the small side of the scale.

The 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 accelerates from 0-60 mph in the high 4-second range; runs the quarter mile in mid-12-second range with the automatic transmission (high 12-second range with the manual); goes from 0-100-0 mph in the low 15s, reaches a top speed of 182 mph with the manual transmission (175 mph with the automatic) and stops from 60-0 mph in just 117 feet.

Power for the Avenger Rally will come from a new Dodge Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine that delivers 300 HP. This engine is combined with a new exhaust system, a Mopar cold-air intake, and a high-performance Mopar/Magneti Marelli braking system.
